We have 5 trainers at Oldham Council. We all have a wide range of experience working with children including teachers, TA's and counsellors. 3 of the trainers are part of the mental well-being team who are working with schools to have a whole school approach to emotional health and mental well-being. The other 2 are part of the SEMH team who work with schools to support the needs of pupils who have social and emotional needs.

Rebecca is an experienced educational psychologist who has particular interests in neuropsychology, attachment and trauma. She has worked in Local Authorities, NHS and private practice. She currently works as an educational psychologist directly commissioned by schools and as a neuropsychologist for children who have had brain injuries. Rebecca has co-delivered Zippy's Friends and Apple's Friends in primary schools and is delighted to be able to train more colleagues in the Skills for Life programmes.

Jane Hyland
Jane has worked as an adviser of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) for 20 years supporting schools in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire. Before that Jane was a secondary school teacher of Biology and PSHE. She has also acted as the chair of the advisory council to the PSHE Association for 8 years and is now training to teach mindfulness to secondary aged pupils.

Karen Smith
Karen has over 25 years experience of working with children and young people in a variety of settings, having taught in both Primary and Secondary Schools before becoming an adviser in PSHE Education. Following a secondment to the Department for Education as a Regional PSHE/CPD Adviser, Karen became a freelance consultant and is currently supporting the work of the PSHE Advisory Service in Nottingham.

Heather Ferguson
